Life in the ocean – The farmed salmon
Learn about the ocean, the cod and the Norwegian aquaculture at the Lofoten Aquarium and by the salmon cages
Tour description
Get a deeper insight in how salmon farming works today and the way it has been developing the past 50 years. The convey of the story is through guiding through an exhibition in the Lofoten Aquarium before heading out on the ocean to visit one of the salmon farms of Lofoten in a rib boat.
Here you get to visit a fully operating farm which otherwise is inaccessible to visitors, and you can have all your questions around the industry. Driving in a rib boat is a beautiful nature experience in itself, and there are great chances for seeing majestic sea eagles.
The tour around the aquarium takes around 1 hour, and then we will head out on the ocean in the rib boat. The ocean trip goes through the most beautiful nature in the world and we are among other passing the famous island of Skrova before we arrive the salmon farm. The trip is suitable for families and children 8 years and older. The trip will end back at the Lofoten Aquarium.
In total, the trip will last for 3,5 hours from the start of the aquarium tour till when returning back after the boat trip. Included is the entrance fee to the aquarium, and recommended is to walk around and see it before the actual tour starts. The trip is hosted by Nordlaks in collaboration with the Lofoten Aquarium and XXLofoten.
We also arrange private trips on request. If you have got serious back or neck injuries or is pregnant, we would recommend other experiences in Lofoten rather than a rib-boat trip.
