Tour description
Fishing in Lofoten varies greatly with the season. During the traditional Lofoten season from end of February to mid-April we catch skrei (Barents cod). The MS Symra is a traditional 49-foot fishing cutter with a long history back to 1917 and a truly authentic experience. She is certified for 38 passengers and protected by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage.
Once aboard we introduce you to the fishing tools and equipment featured on board. There are 10 fishing stations on board, so our guests must expect to share these between them on the trip. But do not worry – we expect you will be very satisfied by the time we head back to port. And the catch? We teach you how to take care of it on board, and of course, the catch is yours to keep.
You will receive professional guidance from our crew during the trip, and experience a taste of how Lofotfisket takes place through stories and anecdotes accompanying the activities on board. No experience necessary to enjoy this trip. Remember warm clothing and shoes with good soles. We do offer shoes for rent for 75 NOK. Group outings on request all year!

Instruction is given on how to handle and fillet the fish on board. You are also welcome to handle your own catch. At the end of the fishing trip, we deliver the day’s catch. At 19:00 we meet again and it is time to taste the fish. The skilled chefs serve a 3-course culinary experience where one of the dishes is the catch of the day.
Clothing:
Dress in warm clothes in several layers with insulating layers in winter. Bring your own mittens, gloves, shoes according to the conditions and a buff / scarf no matter the weather when you go out in an open boat. We recommend tight shoes with thick soles. Shoes can also be rented for 50 kroner.
